You wake and your teeth feel like they worked all night. You catch yourself clenched at a red light. The temples ache. The dentist mentions wear. You buy a guard. The guard helps the enamel. The habit is still in the system.
Jaw tension is often the first place a tired nervous system holds. You may not notice until someone else hears the grinding, or a teen in the house has the same face at homework.
What you may be noticing
- Morning jaw soreness, or teeth that feel tight
- Headaches that start at the temples or behind the eyes
- Clicking, catching, or a tired face after a long talk
- Ear fullness that is not an ear infection
- A neck that is always in the story with the jaw
- Clenching you only notice when someone points at your face
A night guard can protect teeth. It does not, by itself, teach the jaw to let go.
What’s happening underneath
The jaw and the upper neck share a neighborhood. When the nervous system stays ready, the masseter and the small muscles at the base of the skull stay on. Stress, screens, a forward head, and poor sleep all feed that loop.
For a teen, this often arrives with homework and a phone. For you, it may arrive with the year you stopped having time to notice. The pattern is the same. The body is bracing.
We do not diagnose TMJ disease, and we do not replace your dentist. A broken tooth, a locked jaw, or a bite that has changed belongs with them. We look at the tension and the nervous system that keeps asking the jaw to hold.
What we look at
The Fika Discovery Experience is two visits. We listen to the night and the day, not only the click.
That often includes:
- INSiGHT scans, so muscle load is visible
- How the upper neck, jaw, and shoulders share the brace
- Sleep and recovery, because a tired system clenches more
- Simple cues you can use at a red light. Tongue resting. Teeth apart. Not a personality transplant
Care is low-force. We explain what we’re seeing. If you need a dentist or an orofacial specialist, we say so.
If you are booking for a teen, use the pediatric door. The pattern can start there. This page still names it.
What often shifts
People commonly notice:
- A jaw that is less sore in the morning
- Fewer temple headaches
- A face that does not look tired by 4 p.m.
- A night guard that is not getting destroyed
- Catching the clench sooner, because the body is not stuck in it
We do not promise a silent joint. We work toward a system that does not use the jaw as a vise.
When to call your dentist or doctor too
Please do if you notice:
- A jaw that will not open, or locks open
