It starts as a tight hip. Then a line down the back of the thigh. Sitting is a bargain. Walking helps, until it does not. You have stretched the hamstring. You have blamed the car. You have waited for it to be a good week.
Pain that travels is the nervous system naming a path. You do not have to become a person who plans the day around a chair.
What you may be noticing
- Pain in the low back or buttock that moves down the leg
- A hip that complains when you stand up or take the first steps
- Numbness or tingling that comes and goes
- Sitting, driving, or putting on socks as the hard parts of the day
- One side that always takes the hit
- Sleep that breaks when you roll onto that hip
Pregnancy can write a version of this story too. If you are still pregnant, start with the pregnancy pathway. This page is for the parent whose body has been waiting its turn.
What’s happening underneath
“Sciatica” is a description, not a full diagnosis. Something is irritating a nerve path. Sometimes that is a disc. Sometimes it is a tight deep hip. Sometimes it is a pelvis that has been rotated and braced for years of carrying, sitting, and making everyone else’s day work.
We do not guess from the hallway. We look at how the low back, pelvis, and hip share load. We also look at whether the nervous system can downshift, because a braced system keeps the same path loud.
We do not replace imaging or a medical workup when those are needed. We show you what we’re seeing first, so you are not only collecting stretches.
What we look at
The Fika Discovery Experience is two visits. We listen to when it travels, and when it lets you alone.
That often includes:
- INSiGHT scans, so muscle patterns and nervous system load are visible
- How the pelvis and low back move, not only where it hurts
- Sitting, standing, and the first steps, which often tell the story faster than a table
- Sleep and the workday, because this pattern loves a chair
Care is low-force. No twisting you into a position you cannot name. If what we’re seeing points to a medical next step, we say so.
What often shifts
People commonly notice:
- Sitting that lasts a little longer
- A walk that does not start with a wince
- Nights with fewer “I rolled the wrong way” wake-ups
- A hip that feels like a hip again, not a warning
- Less planning the day around the chair
We do not promise a silent nerve. We work toward a pelvis that is not fighting the way you live.
When to call a doctor or urgent care first
Please do, before a visit here, if you notice:
- Loss of control of bladder or bowel, or numbness in the saddle area. That is urgent.
